Rationalism and mysticism are the banks of a river generated by the same spring: they flow in parallel, denying each other principles. Two worlds which will keep fighting until the day when the illusion dissolves, and the two banks join once more around the same lake.
The truth is in the middle, in the stream lapping both banks, taking from the one and the other, mixing, giving back what it took in a balance which will deliver belief to knowledge, but it will give a soul back to the essence of things soon after.
You can see images, you can listen to sounds, you can feel perfumes and sensations. Science will tell you they are just numbers, everything is a number and that is why it exists.
But numbers are unlimited and in the not- limited you can find the illusion of space and time, where everything is possible again. Even the spirit, which is not the reason.
ZERO IS IN THE MIDDLE
We are two designers who chose to work together. Same atelier, ideas becoming complementary, when they are not super-imposable, till they are able to generate something belonging to us both.
There is the void of each beginning in the name we are choosing, the starting point to get where you wish. Zero is the center, it stands in the middle between everything and nothing, a motionless divide between more and less.
Zero was born in Switzerland and Switzerland is in the middle.
It’s at the heart of Europe, a neutral Country by choice, the cradle of order and balance, made of numbers, generating welfare.
It is this and that: a mother-country for the ones who were born there and a destination for the ones looking for it; a beauty to live for the ones discovering it as tourists.
It lies between yes and no: it is a mystery land in the eyes of a world which can’t understand the transparent inviolability of its secrets.
A year which the second millennium greeted for the thirteenth time and a project changing its shape every day for several seasons, just like a reflection unable to find its outline.
Two designers who lived an experience which wasn’t confined in a working place from 2013 to 2020. The effect is the same of a stone being thrown into the water; a spreading circle, a cycle which keeps renewing and widening every time, tying facts, things and people. If they look behind, they share the same sensation: having created something extraordinary. But what is extraordinary?
They shared a dream. An idea, of the kind which won’t leave you all day long, and a night’s light dream: two flashes of thought, partially similar, crossing the rooms of two different minds. The morning stories cross each other, they sometimes override, while the suggestion covers with a clear reality a shape whose tones are still nuanced.
They made a dream come true. We found the means and tools to give substance to a shape we were keeping in our minds, each of us in his own way, but whose aspects were starting to look more and more like each other, until they overlapped. In the suggestion of the one, the other could identify the trail of something she had thought or wished for.
They lived in a dream. While we were working, we weren’t following any specific project, with definite lines and chosen dimensions. The drawing appeared together with the quite finished object: a structure arising out of iron dust and supported by some spot welding.
A real table and something like magic all around it.
